Understanding the Global Fund: A training for young activists
 
 

In May 2010, the Youth Coalition organized a three-day training, called “Understanding the Global Fund”, in partnership with the World AIDS Campaign (WAC), the Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+), AIDSPAN and the secretariat of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.   

The training was held in Capetown, South Africa, and its goal was to provide 25 young activists (18-29 years old) with the knowledge and tools necessary to better understand and get involved in Global Fund mechanisms and structures at the national and international levels.

The facilitators worked to empower the participants so that they could create and later implement action plans about the Global Fund in their respective regions or countries in order to increase awareness, participation, and inclusion of young people and their issues at various levels of the GFATM processes.
